Bio

Iankoo on the mix
Aged 25, born in a mountain resort from Romania, he is currently living in Bucharest. He likes cooking, the X-men, unpacking and unwrapping stuff. He hates daily newspapers and television.

DJ

Iankoo started djing when he was 15. His father owned a record store and had a good selection of dance music. During his childhood he began gathering records for his own collection. He grew up listening to Depeche Mode, Enigma and a lot of euro house and euro dance music. He played music for the first time on his father’s stereo system for school parties. By the time he finished high school, he became notorious in his hometown, as the freak who had all the music upfront.

Producer…

He started experimenting with software for computer music during the trackers’ era, evolved with Cool Edit, Reason and Fruity Loops and finally became proficient in Apple Logic and Ableton Live. In the last couple of years he has been constanly changing his genre, starting with trance and psy back in the day, playing ATB, Astral Projection or Infected Mushroom until now, when he finally settled on deep house and tech house. Meanwhile he started producing a party and also a “radio show”: Groove Drips Night and Groove Drips Cloudcast. Groove Drips Night brings together djs that play deep house and tech; Groove Drips Cloudcast is an one hour weekly mix that features the latest tech house, tribal and deep house music. His new year resolution for 2011 is to release one ep made of 4 tunes on the first semester and one by the end of the year.

Record Collector…

Since his childhood until present he has been collecting records: not only vinyl, but also cd maxi singles; lately he became a fan of the oughties, and he is collecting vinyl records from that era.

The electronic music industry is evolving with a fast pace. It is instrumental for you as a dj and producer to keep up with it without leaving behing the human touch. Look around you, try and find inspiration for your creations in the things that surround you and you will surely succeed to surprise your audience, also raising the line and improving the overall quality.
